Lou de Laage (Breathe, Black Box) is the heroine of Whirlwind of lifea romantic drama released in theaters at the end of 2022, with an interesting concept: telling the life of this young woman by exploring various possibilities. At each important turning point, at each decision that changed his destiny, the film rewinds, and invites us to explore both options. An idea from Olivier Treiner, who is making his first feature film here, twelve years after his César for the short The Tunerand after having co-written What is this family?! And Dumped.
Alongside the actress, we recognize in this trailer Raphaël Personnaz, Isabelle Carré, Grégory Gadebois and Denis Podalydès. What is worth The Whirlwind of Life, broadcast this Sunday evening on France 2? Here is the review of First :
For his first feature film, Olivier Treiner chose to explore the very crowded terrain of “what if?” films. ” (of Course Lola course has Heads and tails) who intend to explore the possible place of destiny in our lives by wondering to what extent they would have changed if we had made a certain decision instead of another in certain crucial moments. This type of feature film requires flawless precision mechanics which unfortunately does a cruel job in this scenario. Due to a lack of fluidity, the upheavals in the lives of its two main characters – a pianist (Lou de Laagence) and a mathematician (Raphaël Personnaz) – very quickly end up causing only polite boredom. Handling chance and coincidences is an art. But Claude Lelouch is not the one who wants it and, here, the good intentions end up in the wall.
Lou de Laage: “Le Bal des Folles is a wonderful film about difference”
