No, Cillian Murphy will not be Voldemort in the Harry Potter series

Ralph Fiennes himself had designated the star of Peaky Blinders as his successor. But…

No, Cillian Murphy will not embody Voldemort in the future Harry Potter series produced by HBO.

Guest of the Podcast Happy Sad Confused led by Josh Horowitz, the Irish actor put an end to rumors circulating online.

“I don’t know anything about it,” he said, explaining that his children had shown him the speculation of fans imagining him in the skin of the famous evil sorcerer.

Murphy especially explains that he does not intend to pass behind Ralph Fiennes, interpreter of the character in five of the eight films of the saga:

“It is an absolute legend of acting. So good luck to the one who will have to put himself in his shoes.”

The actor even joked by saying that he was “very attached” to his nose, and that he did not intend to remove it to play the Lord of darkness.

If the rumor was initially only a fantasy of fans, she had gained credibility when Ralph Fiennes himself expressed himself on this subject last December.

Asked in the show Watch What Happens Live, he said: “Cillian is a fantastic actor. He is a great suggestion. I would be totally for.”

The fact remains that it should spend a little more time before the Voldemort of the Harry Potter series is officially cast. And for good reason, it should not appear in season 1, since Voldemort makes a very limited return (glued to the head of a faithful) in the first volume of the saga. Technically, he could only arrive from season 4 – Fiennes had only landed in Harry Potter and the Fire Cup – so maybe not before 2030 (or something like that) … Cillian Murphy has time to change his mind.

The Harry Potter series will be broadcast from 2027 on HBO Max in France.
