Scarlett Johansson will star in Ari Aster’s new film
“Scapegoat” is the new mystery project from the Eddington director.
Continuing her impressive career which alternates popular blockbusters and arthouse films, Scarlett Johansson has joined Ari Aster’s next film.
The Oscar-winning actress who fought dinosaurs Jurassic Worldand the Devil in the new opus of The Exorcistin recent months, will play the main role of Scapegoatthe new feature film from the director of Midsommar Or Beau Is Afraiddeveloped once again with A24.
As is often the case with Ari Aster’s projects, no details on the plot have yet filtered out. Since his beginnings, the filmmaker has cultivated a pronounced taste for secrecy. We will just say that Scapegoat means scapegoat in French…
The film will be produced by Lars Knudsen via the company Square Peg, a regular collaborator of Aster.
For Scarlett Johansson, this new project comes during a particularly busy period. While waiting for the release of The Exorcist directed by Mike Flanagan, and the filming of The Batman IIshe will soon be showing in Paper Tiger by James Gray, presented at the Cannes Film Festival. She will also lend her voice to the animated science fiction film Ray Gunn by Brad Bird.
For his part, Ari Aster remains an essential figure in American independent cinema despite the more divided reception reserved for his latest film, Eddington, which notably brought together Joaquin Phoenix, Emma Stone, Austin Butler and Pedro Pascal.
