Scary Movie 7 in the pipeline? Marlon Wayans already has ideas for the sequel
What if Backrooms went through the Ghostface mill?
With an excellent start in France, solid buzz on social media and forecasts estimated at $45 million for its first American weekend, Scary Movie 6 seems to have restarted the comic-horror machine for years to come. To the point that Marlon Wayans already evokes a possible Scary Movie 7.
During the film’s preview, the actor and co-creator of the saga surprised everyone by openly discussing a potential seventh opus, with already ideas for a parody in mind:
“Wait for Scary Movie 7 and we’ll be back. We’re going to tackle Backrooms and we’re going to tackle Obsession. Thank you all, keep making these films.”

A statement that closely resembles a first unofficial teaser.
If the project comes to fruition, Scary Movie 7 could therefore parody two of the biggest horrific phenomena of the year. Despite relatively modest budgets, Backrooms And Obsession have become real successes at the global box office. The first has already exceeded 130 million dollars in revenue while the second has crossed the 165 million mark.
A logical choice for a franchise which has always built its success by hijacking the biggest hits in horror cinema. Over the course of the episodes, the films notably made fun of classics like Scream, The Exorcist, The Ring or even Saw. As for Scary Movie 6he is already tackling several recent successes of the genre: M3GAN, Fainted, Sinners And Get Out.
No official announcement has yet been made by the Paramount studio, but if Scary Movie 6 confirms its excellent debut at the box office this weekend, it would be surprising if the franchise stopped there.
