Spider-Man: Brand New Day already passes 2 billion dollars

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is already preparing for a theatrical release with new scenes

Marvel and Sony are counting on a return to cinema to increase its enormous score at the global box office… and should offer one or two new scenes to attract customers.

Spider-Man isn’t done climbing yet.

While Spider-Man: Brand New Day is still showing in many countries, Sony is already preparing a re-release of the film with additional images. According to information from Deadline, this new version could notably include a scene with Rosario Dawson, whose character of Claire Temple had been cut from the final cut.

The actress herself revealed that she had filmed a scene for the film. Claire Temple, a nurse who regularly helps vigilantes in the Marvel universe, appeared in Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist And The Defenderson Netflix. But this would not be the only surprise reserved by this new version: other new images would also be on the program.

An outing which obviously recalls that ofAvengers: Endgamerecently republished under the title Endgame: Extended.

The Russo brothers’ film has already grossed another $86 million worldwide, including $26 million in the United States, bringing its total to $2.885 billion. In a few days, it could even become the biggest success in history by doubling Avatar and its 2.92 billion.

And Brand New Day has a place to defend in this race for records.

The film by Destin Daniel Cretton, led by Tom Holland, currently has 2.495 billion dollars worldwide, including 950.7 million in North America. He has already exceeded Spider-Man: No Way Home (1.92 billion) to become the biggest success in Sony history.

So, can this release allow Spider-Man to double Avengers: Endgame ? There is currently $389.7 million left to make up. A particularly high step, even for Peter Parker.

Sony has not yet announced the date of this new release.

The studio would have to wait a little longer and could take advantage of a calmer period at the box office and recover premium screens for this enriched version. Sony had already released No Way Home in the United States during Labor Day weekend (early September) in 2022, with an additional $9.3 million up for grabs.
