Why James Cameron cannot write the new Opus of Terminator

During a long interview for CNN about his next film on Hiroshima, the director said that he had been responsible for writing “A new story of Terminator”. But the exercise turns out to be more complicated than expected, especially because it is difficult today to immerse itself in science fiction.
“I am at a time of my life when I find it hard to write science fiction”, explains James Cameron.
“I was entrusted with the mission to write a new story of Terminator. But I can’t go very far, because I don’t know what to say who is not caught up in real events. We are already living in a age of science fiction, and the only way to get out of it is to live with it. By using our intelligence, our curiosity, our mastery of technology. But also by really understanding the severe probabilities.

Creator of the franchise with the cult film of 1984 Terminatorthen its legendary suite Terminator 2,, Cameron marked the genre. Since then, six films have emerged, the last one being Terminator: Dark Fate From Tim Miller, released in 2019.
We do not yet know which Cameron project refers exactly, or if he will have a link with DARK Fate. As a reminder, this film was directly following Terminator 2 By ignoring most of the sequences shot since.
