My new original song I Knew It, I Knew You for Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5 will be yours on June 5th. I have always dreamed of writing for these characters that I have loved since I was 5 years old and I discovered the first Toy Story. I fell in love with Toy Story 5 as soon as I had the chance to see an early version of it, and I wrote this song as soon as I got home from watching it. Sometimes you just know, right?

Co-written and co-produced with Jack Antonoff, his faithful collaborator, the song would be directly inspired by Jessie, the famous cowgirl from the saga.

Disney goes even further by presenting the title as “a return to Taylor Swift’s country roots“. The studio explains that the song was inspired by “of Jessie’s journey in Toy Story 5” while mixing the different influences that have marked the artist’s career.

Director Andrew Stanton was also rave:

It’s amazing how important it was to have Taylor write and perform this song. Her connection to Jessie and the immediate way she understood what the character was going through was undeniable. The song is deeply connected to Toy Story. From the first listen, we had the impression that she had always been part of this universe. It was destiny.”
