The Evil is Done: first photo from the new film by François Ozon

After the success of The Stranger, the French filmmaker returns with a psychological thriller which will take a 12-year-old teenager into a summer as hot as it is worrying in Normandy.

For the first time since 2019, there will be no new François Ozon film in French theaters in 2026.

But a year after the success of The Strangerhis adaptation of Albert Camus’ novel, which attracted nearly 800,000 spectators in France and won four César nominations, the filmmaker is launching his next feature film.

Titled The damage is donethis new film is presented as a psychological thriller and will be released in cinemas in 2027. The cast includes Pio Marmaï, Sandor Funtek, Grégoire Danvin-Sellier and Judith Davis.

The film will follow Ariel, a 12-year-old boy whose appearance in the disciplinary council after lighting a fire in the toilets of his school will turn the summer upside down.

Synopsis: “Ariel, 12 years old, goes to disciplinary council for lighting a fire in the toilets of her school. His mother, a young, exhausted and pregnant divorcee, no longer knows how to go about it and asks her ex to look after him during the summer vacation. Furious, the young boy finds himself in the countryside with his father, who is renovating an old farm in Normandy. Faced with her father’s new life and strange and evil encounters, Ariel enters adolescence with a bang, during a scorching summer.t.”

The damage is done will be released in cinemas on February 10, 2027.
