The Mummy 4 has a deadly title
Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz will reprise their roles as Rick and Evie O’Connell in this fourth installment, now titled The Mummy: Book of the Dead.
The Book of the Dead will open again.
The new part of the Universal saga has just revealed its official title: The Mummy 4 will be officially called The Mummy: Book of the Dead (The Mummy: The Book of the Dead) as revealed by the studio today.
An evocative title for fans of the franchise. In the universe of The Mummythis famous Book of the Dead occupies a central place from the first film, in 1999. It is while reading this ancient grimoire, discovered in the city of Hamunaptra, that archaeologist Evelyn O’Connell accidentally awakens Imhotep, the cursed high priest. The work indeed makes it possible to bring the dead back to life, while the Book of the Living can send them back to the afterlife. The title of this fourth part therefore refers directly to one of the founding elements of the franchise, even if we still do not know what role the book will play in this new adventure.
Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz will be back in the shoes of Rick and Evie O’Connell, almost thirty years after their first adventure.
The mystery remains over the plot of this new episode, but the cast will also bring together John Hannah, Oded Fehr, Kevin J. O’Connor, Numan Acar and Michael Johnston. At the helm, we will find Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the duo behind Wedding Nightmare and the last two Scream. The screenplay is by David Coggeshall, to whom we owe in particular The Family Plan.
The Mummy: Book of the Dead will be released in cinemas in France on October 13, 2027.
