Currently filming in Atlanta, and scheduled for release in 2027, the series offers a new approach to the beginnings of Mystery Inc., and the Scooby-Gang, by looking back at the meeting between its future members. According to the official synopsis, the story takes place during Sammy and Daphne’s last summer at summer camp, where they find themselves embroiled in a mysterious case involving a lost Great Dane puppy, a potential witness to a supernatural murder. They will be joined by Véra, described as a pragmatic and scientific young girl, and Fred, a newcomer as strange as he is charismatic. Together, they will be drawn into an investigation that will gradually bring out their deepest secrets.
To embody this new generation of detectives, Netflix brought together Maxwell Jenkins in the role of Fred Jones, Tanner Hagen as Sammy Rogers, Abby Ryder Fortson as Vera Dinkley and Mckenna Grace as Daphne Blake. Paul Walter Hauser is also announced in the casting in a role still kept secret.
