The Rings of Power: Sauron finally forges the One Ring in the season 3 trailer
Prime Video unveiled the first images of the sequel to the Lord of the Rings series at San Diego Comic-Con. A spectacular trailer that promises the worst.
“Middle-earth will burn.”
Prime Video took advantage of San Diego Comic-Con to unveil last night the first trailer for season 3 of its series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. It will go live on the platform on November 11, 2026, with 4 episodes available from the first day.
As announced, this new burst of episodes will jump five years in time after the fall of Eregion. At the heart of the story: Sauron, more powerful than ever, who is finally preparing to forge the One Ring. The first images open with this emblematic scene, before showing a Middle Earth darker than ever.
“Middle-earth will burn,” warns Sauron in this teaser which announces all-out war.
The trailer also offers a new glimpse of Gandalf, while Galadriel finally reunites with Celeborn, a character previously absent from the series. The heroes also come across the Nazgûl, whose design is strongly reminiscent of that of Peter Jackson’s trilogy.
Faced with the advance of Sauron’s armies, only a few pockets of resistance still seem to hold out: Khazad-dûm, Lindon and Rivendell, which appear to be the last ramparts against the forces of the Dark Lord.
Prime Video also confirmed the arrival of several new actors. Jamie Campbell Bower will play Celeborn, while Eddie Marsan will play Thrain, Andrew Richardson will be Anárion, Adam Young will play Marnûkh and Zubin Varla will lend his features to Khamûl, one of the future Nazgûl. Another surprise: Simon Pegg joins the series to lend his voice to the Balrog.
Still supervised by showrunners JD Payne and Patrick McKay, the series continues to enjoy great success. Prime Video claims it has already amassed more than 185 million viewers worldwide since its launch in 2022.
