Trailer: Nathan Fielder films lunar documentary about a fallen icon

The director settled in with Elizabeth Holmes, the former Silicon Valley star convicted of fraud, for a nearly three-hour documentary.

Nathan Fielder is definitely not a director like the others.

With You Can See Everythingthe creator of The Curse And The Rehearsal settled into the daily life of Elizabeth Holmes, the fallen founder of Theranos convicted of fraud.

Nicknamed “the new Steve Jobs”, in the early 2000s, the young American claimed to have created a revolutionary process allowing inexpensive blood tests to be carried out, with just a few drops of blood, and without a needle. His company, Theranos, was valued at more than $9 billion… before collapsing when the deception was exposed! The series The Dropout – currently on Disney+ – tells this story with Amanda Seyfried in the title role.

Nathan Fielder does not write fiction. Conversely, he left his suitcases – and his cameras – with Elizabeth Holmes, before her incarceration, in May 2023: she was sentenced to an 11-year sentence which she is currently serving at the Federal Prison Camp, in Bryan, a small town in Texas. The filmmaker shared her daily life and filmed her last 34 days of freedom before she disappeared behind bars.

In You Can See Everythingshe thus looks back on her journey, confides in front of the camera and continues to defend her version of the facts. And obviously, with Nathan Fielder at the helm, the affair could not remain a simple documentary in the style of True Crime. The creator of Nathan for You transforms this cohabitation into a strange fool’s game. The trailer shows the filmmaker directly confronting Holmes with her speech, even asking her if she really thinks she has done nothing wrong…

The result seems to constantly hesitate between documentary observation and staging. Fielder films Holmes, but himself becomes a character in the film, while the former boss of Theranos once again tries to control the image she projects. And then there is her new partner: Billy Evans, heir to a hotel group, whom she met in 2017 and with whom she had two children. In the trailer, Nathan Fielder openly asks her if she didn’t scam him, too, by marrying him for his money.

An object co-created with Lance Oppenheim. which promises to be fascinating and which will be released in cinemas on October 16, 2026 in the United States. No French date has yet been announced.
