War Machine 2: Alan Ritchson will return to war on Netflix

Despite mixed reviews, War Machine has established itself as one of the biggest hits in Netflix history. Unsurprisingly, the platform is indeed preparing a sequel.

The phenomenon War Machine is far from over.

Netflix has officially launched development of a sequel to its action and science fiction film released on March 26.

Worn by Alan Ritchson, known for his role in Reacherthe film followed a sergeant confronted by a mysterious supernatural war machine during a simulated military mission. A mix of action, science fiction and horror which was a huge success with subscribers.

According to Netflix, War Machine has already accumulated 139 million views since its release, making it one of the ten most watched original films in the history of the platform. Currently ranked in tenth place in the historical rankings, it could even gain a rank in the coming weeks.

For this War Machine 2director Patrick Hughes will take over behind the camera. The filmmaker of Hitman’s Bodyguard And Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard will also co-write the screenplay with James Beaufort.

However, several questions remain unanswered. Netflix has not revealed any details regarding the plot and has not yet confirmed the return of Alan Ritchson in the lead role. An absence which would however seem surprising given the importance of his character in the first film.

The open ending of War Machine in any case clearly left the door open for a continuation.
