What launch for the new Pixar original at the French box office?
Jumpers does much better than Elio… even if it remains far from the stratospheric scores of Vice-Versa 2.
Pixar is taking the French box office by storm.
Jumpers records more than 50,000 tickets sold in 530 theaters by the end of its first day. That’s a very good average of 106 admissions per print for this animated film carried by the voices of Artus and Mallory Wanecque in France.
An encouraging score for Pixar, a year after the disappointment ofElio. In the spring of 2025, the latter had attracted only 28,403 spectators in 592 theaters at the end of its first day. He still finished above a million admissions at the end of his career, but maintained the idea that the studio’s originals were now struggling to move the crowds.
And for good reason, in 2024, Vice-Versa 2 already had 527,500 admissions (including previews) after its first Wednesday. The film went on to become the biggest hit in Pixar history.
Jumpers will certainly not be at these levels, but proves that the originals still have their place within the studio. If we compare with other recent Pixar originals, Elementary had done much the same: 63,000 admissions for its first day, before reaching 3.3 million spectators in the end.
Taking advantage of the effect of the school holidays to already cross the 100,000 admissions barrier with the previews, this Pixar boosted by good reviews can see far.
Faced with the omnipotence of American cartoons, French competition is struggling: The Women’s Housewith Karin Viard, and Alter Egowith Laurent Lafitte, complete the podium. Despite its star cast, The Bride! with Christian Bale, had a lot of difficulty attracting the public.
