The new Spider-Man takes spectacular flight!

In seven days, Spider-Man: Brand New Day attracted 3.24 million spectators to French cinemas. A performance which allows it to seize the best start of 2026 and above all to climb to ninth place in the best first weeks in the history of the French box office.

Destin Daniel Cretton’s film, with Tom Holland and Zendaya, is almost on par with THE King Lion. The Disney remake recorded 3.25 million admissions during its first week in 2019, barely a few thousand more spectators.

With an average of 134 entries per session, spiderMan: Brand New Above all, Day confirms the enormous power of the franchise. spiderMan: No way Homereleased in December 2021, had posted exactly the same average during its first week, but with 2.87 million entries. The previous part then ended its French career with 7.3 million spectators.

The new film therefore has considerable room for improvement. All films with a first week higher than that of Brand New Day ended their career with more than 6.9 million admissions. And by simply reproducing the coefficient of No Way Home, the new Spider-Man could exceed 8 million spectators in France.

The performance was already spectacular from the weekend. With 2.55 million admissions over its first three days, Spider-Man: Brand New Day had the best start since No Way Home, while posting the best average per session since 2021.

The Odyssey remains securely installed

Behind the spider, The Odyssey continues to hold up very well. For its third week, Christopher Nolan’s film still attracts 1.2 million spectators, a drop limited to 24%. Its total has now reached 4.69 million entries.

At this rate, The Odyssey can now look towards the 6 million spectators. The film is thus approaching the biggest hits of the year and remains for the moment ahead of Super Mario Galaxy, the film, at 5.6 million admissions, and Michael, at 5.58 million.

A market driven by several locomotives

With Spider-Man: Brand New Day and The Odyssey, the French box office currently benefits from two particularly powerful locomotives. But French productions are not left out, starting with the diptych There Battle of Gaullewhich continues to display remarkable solidity.

For its sixth week, There Battle of Gaulle : I write your name thus brings together 1.28 million spectators, while There Battle of Gaulle : Age of ironin the ninth week, adds 976,000 entries. The two films now have a total of 2.9 million and 2.5 million spectators respectively, or more than 5.4 million cumulative admissions for the diptych.

Behind this leading trio, Of there ComedyFrench marks a second week with 224,000 admissions, down 29%, for a total of 584,000 spectators. Toy Story 5 for its part crossed 4 million entries, while Moanain live action, is approaching 1.8 million.

But all attention obviously remains focused on spiderMan: Brand New day. With 3.24 million admissions in just seven days, the film achieved the ninth best start in history in France and now has a chance to reach 7.3 million admissions. spiderMan: No Home.
