Twisted Metal finally renewed for a season 3
Anthony Mackie will take the wheel again.
We continue to press the accelerator.
Twisted Metal is officially renewed for season 3, according to Variety. But this return is accompanied by a major change behind the scenes: Michael Jonathan Smith, co-creator and showrunner of the first two seasons, is leaving the series. David Reed will take over as showrunner and executive producer, as part of an overall deal with Sony Pictures Television.
Season 2, launched in July on Peacock in the United States, confirms the rise of the show: with 993 million minutes viewed, it quite simply becomes the second most watched original season on the platform. In France, the series can be seen on OCS (via MyCanal).
Who will be back?
The cast is still led by Anthony Mackie, with Stephanie Beatriz, Joe Seanoa and Will Arnett.
Adapted from the cult PlayStation franchise, season 2 plunges John and Quiet into the deadly Twisted Metal tournament, a derby of destruction orchestrated by the enigmatic Calypso (Anthony Carrigan). Between new enemies and old acquaintances – including the murderous clown Sweet Tooth (played by Seanoa and voiced by Arnett) – the dangers intensify, especially when John finds his missing sister, the vigilante Dollface (Tiana Okoye).
Season 3 of Twisted Metal does not yet have a release date.
