The creator of Lost is going to boycott Disney as long as Jimmy Kimmel is suspended
Damon Lindelof says he is “shocked, saddened and furious”. Tatiana Maslary, the She-Hulk of Marvel, calls on her fans to unsubscribe from Disney Plus.
Hollywood reacts. The voices rise after the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel by ABC.
The decision of the American chain (Disney ownership) to “indefinitely” the host “indefinitely”, after his controversial remarks on the assassination of the conservative activist Charlie Kirk, causes a shock wave in the industry. An obvious involvement of freedom of expression that worries. So some want to counterattack.
This is the case of Damon Lindelof. The creator of Lost, who made the big hours of the chain between 2004 and 2010, and more recently Watchmen, did not chew his words on Instagram:
“I was shocked, saddened and furious by the suspension of yesterday and I hope it will be lifted quickly. If it is not the case, I will not be able to continue to work for this company.” Before concluding: “If you are about to come across the comments, ask yourself first if you know how to make the difference between a hate speech and a joke. I think you still know.”
Damon Lindelof is one of the first big names to announce a Disney boycott in support of Kimmel. And he might not be the last.
The director of Sorry to Bother You, Boots Riley, joins the movement and even suggested that Directors Guild of America (the union of directors in Hollywood) calls for strike on all projects related to Disney. In other words, Boycotter Disney, until his channel ABC returns to his decision.
If dga has its members not show up for any abc/disney/hulu/marvel show them ley reverses the kimmel decision, they’ll reverse the decision within hours at most.
DGA HAS ONLY GONE ON STRIKE ONCE. It was so powerful it only took 19 hours til demands were put.
