Lulu naked woman on France 4: at Sólveig Anspach, women are strong (critic)
Led by Karin Viard, the adaptation of Etienne Davodeau’s comic book is successful.
In 2014, Karin Viard reunited with Sólveig Anspach, fifteen years after the filming of Haut les cœurs!, and just a few months before the death of director Sólveig Anspach, for Lulu femme nu, the adaptation of a successful comic book by Etienne Davodeau. A new fruitful collaboration for the two women. The film is broadcast this Friday evening on France, and can be streamed the next day on France.TV.
The Aquatic Effect is a romantic comedy a thousand miles from the formatted products from Hollywood (review)
The story? Following a job interview that goes badly, Lulu decides not to return home and leaves, leaving her husband and three children. she didn’t premeditate anything, it happened very simply. she grants herself a few days of freedom, alone, on the coast, with no other plan than to take full advantage of them and without guilt. Along the way, she will meet people who are also on the edge of the world: a strange bird looked after by her brothers, an old woman who is bored to death and an employee harassed by her boss… Three decisive encounters which will help Lulu to find an old acquaintance she has lost sight of: herself.
Première’s review: “From Étienne Davodeau’s graphic novel, Sólveig Anspach has kept the essence, the inner journey of a woman. But, while, in the comic, her story was told by her friends, the film passes through her eyes. Looking for a job, she is received by a dynamic young idiot who looks down on her, finds that she could work in her husband’s garage and dress a little better… This escape from her shackles of being refused a stay-at-home mother, here is Lulu who lets herself go, in the best sense of the word. We can drift without being lost. At Sólveig Anspach, the women are strong even if they don’t know it, and they always use what life gives them (or takes from them) to move forward. beautiful inhabited by fanciful characters is invigorating, moving and encouraging.”
