Stewie Griffin is getting his own Family Guy spinoff series
Two seasons have already been ordered and we know the story that will send the youngest of the family to a new nursery…
We wonder why this wasn’t done sooner…
An explosive character in the Family Guy series for two decades, little Stewie Griffin will soon be entitled to his own series.
Fox has formalized a new spin-off series centered on the Machiavellian mini genius, with an order for two seasons planned from the 2027-2028 season.
Created by Seth MacFarlane, the original sitcom debuted in 1999 and has already run for 24 seasons. Viewers know the Griffin family: Peter and Lois, their children Meg, Chris and Stewie, and the anthropomorphic dog Brian. Until now, the only spin-off series had been The Cleveland Show, which aired from 2009 to 2013.
In this second spin-off, Stewie will be kicked out of his daycare, and will have to “join a new daycare not really reputable, frequented by a few unknown children and a 75-year-old turtle with a crazy theory about almost everything. They are all miserable… until Stewie begins to deploy his arsenal of gadgets, capable of taking them anywhere in space and time, transforming each day into a surreal and crazy adventure.”
The series will obviously be produced by Seth MacFarlane. The number of episodes has not yet been specified, but it is expected to be slightly less than the 15 episodes per season currently produced for Family Guy under the current contract with Fox. MacFarlane rubs his hands with his usual humor: “I thank Fox for this incredible opportunity and I’m thrilled to begin working closely with them on the series…I’m honored that Seth, 20th Television Animation and Fox have entrusted me with one of the most iconic animated characters in television history. I hope this time Seth eventually learns my name.”
