Kurt and Wyatt Russell reunited in a Godzilla series: first images
Father and son will play the same character in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, but 50 years apart.
Since the success of Godzilla by Gareth Edwards, in 2014, Legendary Pictures is building a saga around the monster, as well as King Kong (via Kong: Skull Islandreleased in 2017 at the cinema), sometimes making them cross paths, as in the blockbuster godzilla vs kong of 2021. The studio also has signed a deal with Apple TV+ to develop this universe on the small screen. The first series derived from this universe is called Monarch: Legacy of Monstersand today we discover some official images of the project.

Composed of 10 episodes, this new play from “Monsterverse” will be worn by Kurt Russell (New York 1997, The Thing…), his son Wyatt Russell (Black Mirror, Falcon and the Winter Soldier…), but also Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett and Elisa Lasowsk. The series is co-created by Chris Black (Severance, Star Trek: Enterprise) and Matt Fraction (Hawkeye). And that’s Matt Shakman, known for his work on the Marvel series. Wanda Visionwho directs the first two episodes.
The pitch? After the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that razed San Francisco and the shocking revelation that the monsters are real, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters follows two siblings in the footsteps of their father to uncover their family’s ties to the secret organization known as Monarch. Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately the parallel world of army officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), set in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by Shaw’s knowledge. This dramatic saga – which spans three generations – reveals buried secrets and how epic and life-changing events can reverberate through our lives.
