Bloodsport lives again: a very unexpected remake by Michaela Coel for A24
The star and creator of the series I May Destroy You tackles this big piece of Jean-Claude Van Damme’s film.
It’s a project that no one saw coming: Michaela Coel, creator and star of the (excellent) series Chewing Gum And I May Destroy Youtackles Bloodsporta little classic martial arts film from 1988, played by Jean-Claude Van Damme. Coel will write and direct this remake for A24.
At the time, Newt Arnold’s film followed a US army captain adept at ninjutsu, engaged in an underground fighting tournament in Hong Kong. She continues her collaboration with A24 after First Day on Earth (series in production) and Mother Marya psychological thriller by David Lowery which will soon be released in the United States but has no French date.
