Wonder Man: season 2 finally ordered by Disney
The Marvel series worn by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Ben Kingsley will return…
This is an announcement that is not commonplace and which was not necessarily expected: Wonder Man has officially been renewed for a season 2 on Disney+. A decision not so trivial as that, as few live-action series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe are entitled to a second salvo (apart from Loki and Daredevil: Born Again).
The news comes barely two months after the launch of the series, the eight episodes of the first season of which were put online in one go, on January 27, somewhat on the sly… But the reviews have been very good. Wonder Man offers a strange side step to the MCU, playing with industry codes and offering fans another approach to superheroes. So much so that the start was good (Disney does not communicate exact viewing figures) and convinced the platform to bet on a sequel.
On the casting side, no revolution: Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Ben Kingsley will return to their respective roles of Simon Williams and Trevor Slattery. Logical, given the final scene of season 1, which will inevitably define the start of season 2…
They will be accompanied by an already well-established cast, with X Mayo, Demetrius Grosse, Zlatko Burić, Arian Moayed and Olivia Thirlby.
Behind the camera, the tandem also remains unchanged. Destin Daniel Cretton retains his role as director and executive producer, while Andrew Guest returns as showrunner.
