Laura Dern replaces Helena Bonham Carter in season 4 of The White Lotus

She will play a new character, specially imagined by the creator of the series, Mike White.

An Oscar-winning star joins the cast of season 4 of The White Lotus.

Just a few days after the sudden departure of Helena Bonham Carter, who left the series shortly after the start of filming in the south of France, Laura Dern – crowned at the Oscars for Marriage Story by Noah Baumbach, in 2020 – has officially flown to the Côte d’Azur.

But this is not a position-for-position replacement. Laura Dern will not play the role originally planned for Helena Bonham Carter. She will play a brand new character, specially imagined by the creator of the series, Mike White.

It should be remembered that Laura Dern is a regular on HBO. She also co-created the series Enlightened for HBO, with Mike White at the time.

“The fourth season will follow a new group of guests and employees of the White Lotus hotel for a week, in the middle of the Cannes Film Festival,” details the synopsis.

Laura Dern joins the season 4 cast of Vincent Cassel, Steve Coogan, Caleb Jonte Edwards, Dylan Ennis, Corentin Fila, Ari Graynor, Marissa Long, Alexander Ludwig, Chris Messina, AJ Michalka, Kumail Nanjiani and Nadia Tereszkiewicz. With the participation of Chloe Bennet, Sandra Bernhard, Heather Graham, Max Greenfield, Frida Gustavsson, Charlie Hall, Jarrad Paul, Rosie Perez, Ben Schnetzer and Laura Smet.

Filming officially began last week on the French Riviera, with appearances planned in Cannes, Saint-Tropez, Monaco and Paris.

For the moment, no broadcast date announced for The White Lotus season 4, but we can reasonably bet on late 2026 or early 2027.
