First images of Benjamin Voisin in the biopic of Johnny Hallyday
Where we learn that William Lebghil will play Michel Berger.
After a false start linked to the abandonment of Raphaël Quenard, the biopic of Johnny Hallyday, directed by Cédric Jimenez, this time seems to be on the right track. Benjamin Voisin took over the role on the fly and Paris Match publishes the first photos of the actor in the skin of the legendary singer. “ Hugo (Sélignac, the producer) called me during the Christmas holidays between December 24 and 31. I think I didn’t immediately understand what he was offering me. It took me a few days to come back down. » And to specify that he “do not seek to imitate, but to approach a truth of the man he was, try to be crossed by him “.
We discover it in these photos with guitar in hand, or reproducing the cover of a Johnny 45 rpm record. The weekly also tells us that Nina Meurisse will play Nathalie Baye, William Lebghil will be Michel Berger (who composed the album Rock’n’roll attitude), while Noée Abita will step into the shoes of Sylvie Vartan. As for Laura Smet, daughter of Johnny Hallyday, she will play the role of her own grandmother, Huguette, Johnny’s mother.
The film will focus on several stages of the career and life of Johnny Hallyday, from his beginnings to the concert which celebrated his fifty years of career at the Parc des Princes, in 1993. The 60s, 70s and 80s will be more precisely mentioned. Hugo Sélignac assures that “ the film remains more important than anything, we do it for the fans », with a budget which, according to our colleagues, reaches 45 million euros.
As a reminder, Cédric Jimenez explained to us last September that this biopic will be “ chronological » but will not necessarily detail the singer’s entire life. “ We also want to tell the story of the arrival of rock in France, a time when youth were uninhibited and not worried about the future. It’s about giving hope, showing these people who wanted to live to the fullest and who saw the future as something very beautiful. This biopic of Johnny will be a positive film because he was a positive character and one whom the public loved deeply. »
Filming on the Johnny biopic is scheduled to begin June 1, with release scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.
