Her Private Hell: first trailer for the return of Nicolas Winding Refn
Ten years after his last feature film, the director of Drive returns with an ultra-stylized sci-fi thriller presented out of competition at the Cannes Film Festival.
No doubt, we are very much in the aesthetic of Nicolas Winding Refn.
After ten years of absence and serious heart problems which almost cost him his life, the Danish filmmaker returns with Her Private Hella pulp SF thriller that takes us to a metropolis saturated with neon and fragmented into several parallel realities.
Thought above all as a sensory experience, the new project from the director of Drive does not particularly seek to please the viewer, in the filmmaker’s own words: “I don’t expect everyone to like this film, just like I don’t expect everyone to hate it, because that would mean that it hasn’t permeated the viewer’s brain.”confirms Nicolas Winding Refn in the press kit.
It should be noted that the film was rather poorly received on the Croisette this week, where it was presented out of competition at the 79th Cannes Film Festival.
The synopsis details: “As a strange mist engulfs a futuristic metropolis and unleashes an elusive deadly presence, a troubled young woman sets out in search of her father. During this quest, her destiny intersects with that of an American GI on a desperate journey to rescue his daughter from Hell.”
Carried by the revelation of Yellowjackets Sophie Thatcher, as well as Charles Melton, seen recently in season 2 ofRelentless on Netflix, Her Private Hell does not yet have a release date in France.
