Where is season 2 of Pluribus?
Vince Gilligan provides an update on the progress of the sequel.
You will be happy.
Pluribus is progressing well. Season 2 is currently being written, explains its creator, Vince Gilligan, in a long article in Entertainment Weekly, confirming in particular that the writers’ room is actively working on the next episodes.
Without mentioning a potential broadcast date, the father of Breaking Bad reveals, however, that several intrigues left unresolved at the end of season 1 are currently at the center of discussions, starting with the mystery surrounding the “others”, these humans lobotomized by extraterrestrials, who have greatly fueled fan theories for months.
Gilligan also admits to deliberately playing with the public’s expectations: “We are all conditioned, when we watch science fiction or genre series, to look for codes and clichés. We had fun using as many tropes as possible in the first episode… precisely to better divert them.” But the screenwriter promises that the sequel will continue to surprise: “Sometimes the funniest thing is precisely what you don’t expect.”
For her part, Rhea Seehorn, who plays Carol, was amused by the impressive amount of theories circulating around the series. “I remain firmly in the Vince camp. We want to surprise,” she explains before mischievously blurting out: “Because all the theories are ultimately true…”
Vince Gilligan also took the opportunity to praise the actress’ work, revealing in passing that the character of Carol had been written especially for her: “She gave the character dimensions that I wouldn’t have even thought of during season 1, and I’m sure she will go even further in season 2.”
Finally, the creator confirms that the final revelation around nuclear weapons has already become one of the big topics of discussion in the writers’ room for the sequel to Pluribus: “All I can say is that we discussed it a lot in the writers’ room…”
The fact remains that we are not close to seeing the result on the screen.
