Jenna Ortega will be the heroine of the new film by Leos Carax
Lily May B will leave for filming in spring 2027.
Five years later AnnetteLeos Carax is preparing his return behind the camera.
The French filmmaker will direct his seventh feature film in 2027, entitled Lily Mayand it is the American star, Jenna Ortega, who will play the main role.
Filming is scheduled to begin next spring. The film will be produced by Chi-Fou-Mi Productions, the company founded by Hugo Sélignac, already behind Love phew, I will always see your faces or even Maddercurrently in competition at the Cannes Film Festival.
In a press release, Leos Carax teases a project as mysterious as it is poetic: “Once upon a time, there were forces that sought to destroy us; here are those who kept us alive…”
The synopsis details: “Once upon a time there was a little girl, a young woman and a young man. Each held a secret too heavy to bear. They met in a world at the end of the world, and together took the road on a big motorcycle, crossing towns and deserted highways, immemorial forests. During their odyssey, they faced a thousand dangers, without ever stopping moving forward. In search of what they were; in search, perhaps, a place to finally live.”
For his part, Hugo Sélignac does not hide his enthusiasm at the idea of collaborating with the director: “For me, Leos Carax is one of the reasons why I love cinema. So experiencing this first adventure alongside him means a lot to me. Lily May B extends his imagination with this freedom, this raw emotion and this visual power that only belongs to him. Seeing this universe meet today the immense talent of Jenna Ortega simply seems like an obvious choice.”
The other members of the cast will only be revealed next September. No release date has yet been mentioned.
