Hell’s Wings 2? Nicolas Cage wants to make a sequel to the 1997 classic
“I wonder what happened to Cameron Poe…”
He has played a bunch of iconic roles in his career, but the one he would really dream of reprising is undoubtedly the most improbable of all: Cameron Poe, the inmate parachuted into the middle of aerial chaos in Wings of Hell in 1997 (Con Air).
Guest by ParadeNicolas Cage confided that he regularly thought about this cult character and what he became after the events of the film:
“If I had to choose a role to reprise… Cameron Poe is a character that I think about from time to time. What has become of him? I would like to know what he is doing today, to see his life now…“
The idea is not necessarily to remake the film as is, but rather to find an older Poe, with a new life far from the prison plane that became cult in 90s action cinema.
Released in 1997, Wings of Hell established itself as a totally unbridled blockbuster, symbol of an era when Hollywood was afraid of nothing, with John Malkovich as a psychopathic criminal, Steve Buscemi as a mad canibal and Nicolas Cage as a reluctant hero. Simon West’s film had grossed $220 million at the worldwide box office at the time.
But the actor isn’t just looking into the past. He also mentions another role that he would like to extend: Ben Reilly in Spider-Blackits new incarnation of Spider-Verse in the Prime Video series, which has just been put online: “I want to continue playing Ben. I think there’s still room to develop this character and put him in other situations…“
For the moment, no season 2 of Spider-Black has not been ordered. And Wings of Hell 2 is also not in development.
