Steven Spielberg applauds the successes of Obsession and Backrooms

“I think it’s fantastic!” The director validates the two horrific buzzes of the moment.

But no worries for Steven Spielberg. The director publicly praised the two huge horror successes of the moment: Obsession And Backrooms.

On the red carpet of his film, the filmmaker applauded the successes achieved by the two indie films, made with very limited budgets:

I’m so happy for them. I find it fantastic! It’s great that they were made with very little money. Above all Obsessionwhich had less than a million budget, and the other one maybe nine or ten million, and they work so well. I take my hat off to them !”


The director, however, specifies that he has not yet seen Backrooms :

I haven’t seen it yet, but I’m going to see it as soon as this is over.

On the other hand, he saw clearly Obsession and assumes unreserved enthusiasm: “I loved it.”

In terms of numbers, the two films confirm their status as phenomena. Obsessiondistributed by Focus Features, has already exceeded $150 million in the United States. For his part, Backroomsproduced by A24, exploded with more than 80 million dollars in North America and more than 100 million worldwide. Directed by the very young Kane Parsons, the film adapts the famous creepypasta and confirms the public’s appetite for internet horror.
