Fatal Fury will become a film written by the screenwriter of The Dark Knight

David S. Goyer is working on a film adapted from the famous fighting video game.

Video game adaptations continue to rain down in Hollywood.

Waiting Street Fighter at the end of the year in theaters, and after the project Streets of RageIt is Fatal Furyone of SNK’s cult franchises, which will be entitled to its own feature film.

The production company The Arena has announced the development of a vast universe drawn from several emblematic licenses from the Japanese publisher, including Fatal Fury therefore, but also Art of Fighting or Metal Slug.

The most advanced project is that of the film Fatal Furysince the studio offered itself the services of screenwriter David S. Goyer, known in particular for having co-written the trilogy The Dark Knight by Christopher Nolan.

The story follows Terry and Andy Bogard, two brothers on a quest for revenge against Geese Howard, the powerful crime boss who rules South Town. At the same time, a project dedicated to the origins of Geese is also in development. Titled Geeseit will be written and directed by Grant Singer and will be openly inspired by the atmosphere of the films The Godfather.

The universe of Fatal Fury will not stop at the cinema. An animated series called Fatal Fury: The Vow is also in the works with Skybound Entertainment, the company founded by Robert Kirkman. It will return to the youth of the Bogard brothers before their thirst for revenge.

For now, no date and no casting have been announced. These are still projects in development.

The stated objective is clear: to build a true transmedia universe around SNK’s major licenses. After the success of video game adaptations in recent years, Hollywood seems more than ever ready to put a coin back into the arcade machine.
