The sequel to La Bataille de Gaulle brought forward a week to take advantage of the Cinema Festival

After the small start of The Battle of Gaulle: The Iron Age, will the sequel succeed in getting Antonin Baudry’s diptych off the ground?

Change of strategy for the General.

Pathé has decided to bring forward the release of The Battle of Gaulle: I write your name. Initially expected on July 3, 2026, the second part of the diptych directed by Antonin Baudry will finally arrive in theaters a week earlier, from June 26.

A change in calendar which is quite easily explained: this new date will allow the film to take full advantage of the Cinema Festival, organized from June 28 to July 1, a period traditionally favorable to theater attendance thanks to the single price offered to spectators.

It must be said that the first chapter, The Battle of Gaulle: The Iron Agereleased on June 3 in 566 cinemas, was not really the expected success. The film attracted just under 390,000 spectators after one week and took second place in the weekly box office, beaten by Scary Movie 6.

It’s difficult not to see in this decision a desire to relaunch the dynamic of the diptych. If the start of The Iron Age remains honorable, it appears below the ambitions that Pathé could have harbored for such an ambitious and expensive project. By bringing forward the release of I write your name just before the Cinema Festival, the distributor undoubtedly hopes to create an event and encourage spectators to watch the two films together. A strategy that could allow the public to discover The Iron Age Then I write your name in the process, while taking advantage of the attractive prices of the national operation.

It remains to be seen whether this boost will be enough to transform the test and establish it sustainably The Battle of Gaulle as one of the great popular French hits of the summer.
