The creator of Years and Years comes to HBO Max with his new series

After It’s A Sin and the triumphant return of Doctor Who, Russell T Davies signs a new dramatic and political thriller which promises to be as biting as it is disturbing.

Russell T Davies fans can see each other this summer on HBO Max.

The British screenwriter, multiple BAFTA winners and creator of such notable series as Queer As Folk, Years and Years, and more recently It’s A Sin as well as the revival of Doctor Who, returns with a brand new original fiction entitled Tip Toe.

This five-episode mini-series will be carried by Alan Cumming (The Good Wife) and David Morrissey, terrifying Governor from The Walking Dead.

The story takes us to Manchester, where Leo and Clive have lived side by side for almost fifteen years. Two neighbors who should lead a peaceful existence… until the ambient climate deteriorates dangerously.

Little by little, words become weapons, opinions become radicalized and the two men transform into sworn enemies at the heart of an oppressive suburban thriller.

According to the official synopsis, the series intends to explore the way in which prejudices and divisions interfere in everyday life, while retaining the biting humor and deeply human perspective that characterize the work of Russell T Davies.

The cast also brings together Pooky Quesnel in the role of Marie, Clive’s wife, Jackson Connor, who plays his youngest son George, as well as Joseph Evans, in the role of the latter’s older brother.

After imagining a terrifying future in Years and Years and recounting the tragedy of AIDS in the 1980s with It’s A Sin, Russell T Davies once again seems to be tackling the fractures in contemporary British society.

Tip Toe will be available in France on HBO Max from August 13, 2026.
