The Persona video game will become a live action series on Netflix

After The Witcher, Arcane or Castlevania, Netflix continues to tap into video games. This time, the platform is preparing a live-action adaptation of the famous Japanese saga Persona.

According to Variety, Netflix is currently developing a live action series adapted from the Persona franchise. The project will be written and supervised by Christopher Monfette, screenwriter of the series 12 Monkeys and Star Trek: Picard, who will also be the showrunner.

Produced by 21 Laps, the company of Shawn Levy (Stranger Things, Deadpool & Wolverine), and Story Kitchen, the series will also benefit from the participation of SEGA, publisher of the saga, via producer Toru Nakahara.

Launched in 1996 as a spin-off of Shin Megami Tensei, the Persona franchise has become one of the benchmarks of Japanese RPG. Each episode follows Japanese high school students who try to reconcile their daily lives, their friendships… and supernatural threats. The series now has six main games and around fifteen spin-offs. Persona 6 was officially announced last June, while Persona 4 Revival is expected in February 2027.

No release date has yet been announced for this new adaptation, which will enrich Netflix’s already well-stocked catalog devoted to video games, after The Witcher, Arcane, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners or even Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft.
