Sadie Sink’s ultra-secret role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day

The former Stranger Things star didn’t even audition… and only discovered the script when he arrived in London.

In a few days, Sadie Sink will make her debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

But to play who? We still don’t know anything! His character remains shrouded in absolute secrecy.

So much so that the actress Stranger Things doesn’t actually appear in any trailer (you can barely see her under a hoodie), any poster and no official extract from the film. For months, rumors have been rife, with many fans being convinced that she will play a young Jean Grey, in view of the upcoming arrival of the X-Men in the MCU. But the person concerned does not intend to reveal anything. And she accepts it:

“It’s not complicated to say nothing. Just don’t reveal the secret. It’s not that complicated.”

In an interview with Nylon magazine, the actress even reveals that Marvel has pushed confidentiality to a level rarely reached: Sadie Sink explains that she didn’t even need to audition. Director Destin Daniel Cretton, who had already directed her in The Glass Castle in 2017, directly offered him the role. Even more surprising, she only received the script after arriving in London, where filming was to begin. She admits to having been stunned by the scale of the thing:

I knew Marvel was something huge, especially Spider-Man. I know there is a huge fan community, but to experience it from the inside is even more impressive. Blockbusters are really another world…

Fortunately, to help her discover this universe, she was able to count on Tom Holland who was particularly welcoming:

It was strange to arrive in this universe being a bit of a new kid. But Tom couldn’t have been warmer to me! He, like the whole team, immediately put me at ease. He was very relaxed and very open.”

The film will also bring together Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Mark Ruffalo (Hulk) and Jon Bernthal (Punisher). We still don’t know who Sadie Sink will play, but we don’t have long to wait: Spider-Man: Brand New Day is expected in French cinemas on July 29.
