The two women knew each other almost 20 years ago, and this feature film is the culmination of their collaboration.

In July 2007, I filmed my first documentary in a summer camp. Eva was ten and a half years old. I filmed all the children, but she and her two friends, Emma and Salomé, formed a group that I couldn’t let go.”, says Lila Pinell in the press kit for the film.

Although we are very different and do not belong to the same generation, we have a lot in common. I built the character of Shana for King David, drawing on her own life, mine, and those of other young girls I met. Then, I wanted to continue to bring this character to life, to deepen her complicated place within her family, a non-practicing Jew, but who respects certain traditions.

Shana will be released in cinemas on June 17. Trailer:
