Millie Bobby Brown almost starred in Logan opposite Hugh Jackman
Before becoming a star thanks to Stranger Things, the young actress had auditioned for the Marvel film derived from the X-Men. A personal failure that had deeply marked her.
Now world-famous, Millie Bobby Brown has not always obtained the roles she coveted.
During an episode of the video series Lie vs. Related from Entertainment Weekly (see below), the actress Enola Holmes 3 revealed that she had a tryout with Hugh Jackman when she was only 11 or 12, just before she was cast in Stranger Things :
“I did a screen test with Hugh Jackman when I was 11 or 12… for one of the Wolverine movies.“
Facing her partner Louis Partridge, she then says that she was very marked by this audition:
“I was devastated when I left there. I had a feeling I probably wasn’t going to get the part. I knew someone else was going to be better than me.”
Louis Partridge then guesses that his comrade‘Enola Holmess talking about Loganthe film released in 2017.
“That’s right, that’s it. I just wanted to mislead you by talking about the Wolverine movies…”
At the time, Millie Bobby Brown was indeed in the right age group to play X-23, the young mutant who accompanies Wolverine on his final adventure.
The role ultimately went to Dafne Keen, whose performance left a lasting impression. The actress returned to her character seven years later in Deadpool & Wolverinea huge worldwide box office success.
With hindsight, this failure was ultimately only a setback for Millie Bobby Brown, who exploded a few months later thanks to Stranger Things before achieving success with the franchise Enola Holmes on Netflix. Dafne Keen’s career was more sinusoidal after Loganmarked above all by her first role in the SF series His Dark Materials and his brief appearance in the series Star Wars: The Acolyte.
