Al Pacino pays tribute to Diane Keaton: “She influenced the course of my life”
“I will never forget it.” Michael said goodbye to Kay.
They formed a couple on screen, in the trilogy of Godfatherbut also in life (their relationship ended after filming the third part). A few days after the death of Diane Keaton, Al Pacino paid a beautiful tribute to the actress who died at the age of 79 from pneumonia.
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of Diane Keaton. When I heard the news, I was devastated. Diane was my partner, my friend, someone who gave me happiness and on more than one occasion influenced the course of my life.
The memories remained vivid, and with his passing they resurfaced with a force that was both painful and moving. She lived without limits, and everything she touched carried her unmistakable energy. She opened doors for others, inspired generations and embodied a rare gift that radiated through her work and her life.
On screen, she was magnetic, lightning and charm, hurricane and tenderness. She was wonderful. Acting was his art, but it was only one way of expressing his imagination and creativity.
People will miss her, but more than that they will remember her. She left a mark that cannot be erased. She was unstoppable, resilient and above all, deeply human. I will never forget it. She could fly, and in my heart she always will.”
In the roles of Kay and Michael Corleone, Diane Keaton and Al Pacino gave us one of the most beautiful scenes in the history of cinema in The Godfather II (1974).
