Wes Anderson’s next film could well be a western
Bill Murray, Owen and Luke Wilson in the director’s first western of The Grand Budapest Hotel?
One year later The Phoenician Schemewe don’t yet know what Wes Anderson’s next crazy project will be.
What if the American filmmaker tackled a genre he has never explored before: the western?
During a meeting organized in France around The Grand Budapest HotelBill Murray and Wes Anderson have hinted that a western could be their next joint project. Taking the stage to discuss his long collaboration with the director, Bill Murray confided that he dreamed of making a cowboy film with him.
“Wes is from Texas, and I think he owes the world a Western!”he said with humor, before imitating the gait of a cowboy by adding: “That’s why I started walking like that!”
#BillMurray says he wants to star in a cowboy movie directed by #WesAnderson:
“He’s from Texas, and I feel like he owes it to the world to make a cowboy movie.”

An idea which is clearly not a joke. Wes Anderson immediately confirmed that he had been thinking about this project for a long time:
“We’re going to do a western, I think. We’ve been talking about this for years. Owen and Luke Wilson will be part of it I think… They also come from Texas, and I have the impression that this is our destiny...”
If the film has not yet been officially announced, the director of The French Dispatch therefore seems determined to pay homage to his Texan roots with what would be the very first western of his career. Bill Murray, faithful among the faithful of his universe, could naturally be part of the adventure, alongside Owen Wilson and Luke Wilson. To be continued…
