Another postponement for The Batman II, which will ultimately not be released until 2028
Bad news: the sequel is once again postponed. As a consolation, Matt Reeves reveals the first images of Robert Pattinson’s return.
You will still have to be patient before finding Robert Pattinson’s Batman.
Matt Reeves announced that The Batman Part II was once again postponed and will not finally be released until February 18, 2028, almost six years after the first film, released in March 2022.

To make things easier, the director revealed on Vimeo a first camera test. This short video (watch below) shows Robert Pattinson dressed in the Dark Knight costume, moving slowly through the snow while police sirens sound, before the film’s logo appears.
The feature film was initially scheduled to be released on October 2, 2026, before being pushed back for the first time to October 1, 2027. This new delay will give Matt Reeves more time to finalize post-production. Last year, the boss of DC Studios, James Gunn, had already defended this first postponement, recalling that it was “ quite common » that big productions take several years to come back with a sequel.
The Batman II is directed by Matt Reeves, who also wrote the screenplay with Mattson Tomlin. The plot remains secret, but the cast is expanding considerably. Around Robert Pattinson, we will notably find Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Brian Tyree Henry, Charles Dance and Sebastian Koch, whose roles have not yet been revealed.
