Netflix reveals the face (too pretty?) of Jacob Elordi as a creature from Frankenstein

Guillermo del Toro warned that his monster would be “incredibly beautiful”.

After months of teasing, the promotion of Frankenstein by Guillermo del Toro finally lifted the veil on the creature in the film, played by Jacob Elordi. And Internet users, discovering his face, are rather unanimous, he is downright handsome. But that’s not really a surprise…

In September, the Mexican filmmaker warned Entertainment Weekly that his version of the monster would not be terrifying. On the contrary, Del Toro described it as “incredibly beautiful, in an indescribable way“.”I didn’t want it to look like I was seeing the victim of an accident.” that Victor Frankenstein (Oscar Isaac) would have assembled at random.

Victor is as much an artist as a surgeon, he has dreamed of this creature all his life, so he is going to make it happen. It looks like a marble creature just born. The scars are beautiful and almost aerodynamic“, the director further detailed.

Our view of Frankenstein’s creature is shaped by the 1931 film, where he bore the angular facial features of Boris Karloff, with makeup by Jack Pierce. Del Toro gives him back the long, black hair described in Mary Shelley’s novel. And by letting the beauty of Jacob Elordi shine through, a pure it-boy that luxury brands are chasing, he chooses to show the nature of the character who, behind his hideous appearance, is sensitive and intelligent.

THE Frankenstein by Del Toro has been released in theaters in the United States since October 17. In France, you will have to wait until November 7 and its arrival in streaming on Netflix to discover it. Trailer:
