The Labyrinth: the saga with Dylan O'Brien already rebooted?
Jack Paglen, the author of Transcendence, is writing a new version of The Maze Runner for Disney.
At 9:10 p.m., Cstar will rebroadcast The Labyrinth: The Deadly Cure, the third part of the saga based on the young adult novels by James Dashner. Labyrinth 3 leaves a bitter taste of déjà vu (review)
The director is currently at the helm of the new adaptation of The Planet of the Apesa sequel in the continuity of the previous trilogy, and this obviously gave ideas to the bosses of Century Studios…
When Disney bought Fox, already well-established franchises such asAvatar, Deadpool Or The Planet of the Apes were relaunched, becoming a priority for the big-eared firm. And The labyrinth is about to suffer the same fate, reveals The Hollywood Reporter.
The financiers Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Lee Stollman, who were already behind the original trilogue, accompanied by Wes Ball who this time only dons the producer's hat, intend to relaunch the franchise which did well at the box office between 2014 and 2018. Above all the first, which, for a budget of 35 million dollars, amassed nearly 350 around the world!
Wes Ball, director of Labyrinth: “Cube is one of my big inspirations”
To do this, they called on Jack Palen, known for having written Transcendencea sci-fi film with Johnny Depp, as well asAlien: Covenant with Ridley Scott. The team avoids using the word “reboot”explaining that these new films inspired by the same novels do not “will not tell the same story”but will be “a sort of continuation” of the three previous opuses. Exactly like The New Kingdomwhich does not remake or remake the original films of The Planet of the Apes released from 1968, nor the trilogy proposed between 2011 and 2017, but continues on the momentum of the last three, approximately 300 years after the end of the story of Caesar (Andy Serkis).
It has just been released in cinemas, here is its trailer:
Planet of the Apes: The New Kingdom was filmed almost entirely on location
