Outer Banks: the trailer for season 5 promises a… miraculous ending?

After five seasons of treasure hunts, betrayals and chases, the Pogues are preparing to bow out.

This is the final adventure for the Pogues. Netflix has just revealed the trailer for the fifth and final season of Outer Banks, which will be online from August 20.

The first images resume immediately after the shock of the season 4 finale.

Still reeling from the death of JJ (Rudy Pankow), the group appears more broken than ever. “We’re hitting rock bottom,” whispers Sarah (Madelyn Cline) to John B (Chase Stokes).

This disappearance will be at the heart of the final season. The Pogues embark on a final hunt across Portugal to find Groff (J. Anthony Crane), the man responsible for their friend’s death. Between sunny landscapes, heists, chases, clashes and new enigmas, the series promises to conclude the epic tale of its band of misfits in style.

The synopsis states: “In Season 5, the Pogues are on the brink of breakdown following the tragic disappearance of JJ in Morocco. Stuck far from home and devastated by the absence of the heart of their group, they have lost the Blue Crown and continue to face a series of familiar threats. While Chandler Groff still runs, Dalia and the Corsairs close in, and the Kooks do everything to block their path home, John B, Sarah, Kiara, Pope and Cleo must rely on their survival instincts and a fragile alliance with Rafe to avoid going under for good. Their mission turns into a desperate race to regain control of their destiny and finally achieve the freedom they have always sought. The Pogues are alone against all, determined to avenge their best friend and return home… one last time.

But this trailer also hints at a completely crazy theory. The images seem to suggest that the mysterious crown at the heart of this ultimate quest could possess supernatural powers… to the point of bringing JJ back to life? A hypothesis which is already panicking fans on social networks and which shows to what extent Outer Banks has moved away from its starting point, that of a simple teen drama by the sea, to embrace an ever more disproportionate adventure.

Chase Stokes (John B), Madelyn Cline (Sarah Cameron), Madison Bailey (Kiara), Jonathan Daviss (Pope), Carlacia Grant (Cleo) and Drew Starkey (Rafe) will return to the cast.
