SWAT Exiles: Shemar Moore returns to service in the trailer for the spin-off

Shemar Moore returns to his character of Hondo in this new spin-off series in ten episodes expected on September 25 in the United States.

Hondo is back. After eight seasons of SWAT on CBS, Shemar Moore reprises his role as a Los Angeles SWAT sergeant in SWAT Exiles, for which Starz has just released the trailer (below).

The story begins after an intervention goes wrong and causes the death of a person. Hondo is then forced to leave SWAT But his former superior, Robert Hicks (Patrick St. Esprit), offers him a second chance: to form a new unit with some of the best elements in Los Angeles… on the condition of looking among the agents sidelined. Hondo will have to deal with a team that is atypical to say the least: Sammy Bishop (Lucy Barrett), an influencer specializing in weapons, Ethan Cole (Freddy Miyares), a particularly socially awkward tactical genius, Cassidy Reed (Zyra Gorecki), Jude Callan (Ronen Rubinstein) and Malik Anderson (Adain Bradley).

But the Exiles will quickly find themselves confronted with increasingly dangerous threats on the streets of Los Angeles. And above all, Hondo will discover that a danger may be hiding within his unit: someone is transmitting information to external interests. A few familiar faces will also be returning as original cast members Jay Harrington and David Lim reprise their roles.

Launched in 2017 on CBS, SWAT was initially scheduled to end after its sixth season, before being saved for a seventh season announced as the last. The series eventually got an eighth season before being canceled once again.

For SWAT Exiles, Sony Pictures Television decided to produce the spin-off directly without going through an American network, with the aim of then relying on international partners for its broadcast. Consisting of 10 episodes, the series will begin on September 25, 2026 on Starz in the United States, with a new episode every Friday. No French broadcaster has yet been announced.
