Gal Gadot didn’t appreciate being kicked out of Wonder Woman

She claims that James Gunn and Peter Safran promised to develop Wonder Woman 3 with her, before ultimately removing her from the role.

She will no longer throw the lasso in the new DC Universe.

And Gal Gadot has obviously not completely digested the end of her adventure as Wonder Woman.

Guest of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the actress claims that the new bosses of DC Studios, James Gunn and Peter Safran, assured her that they wanted to develop a third film with her after their arrival at the head of the studio.

“They told me the opposite! They told me: ‘We are going to develop it with you. The third…’, she says, before returning to the discussions she had with the two leaders in 2023. At the time, Gadot had already affirmed that they had declared to her: “You are in good hands. We will develop Wonder Woman 3 with you. We adore you as Wonder Woman, you have nothing to fear.”

Statements which were, however, denied at the time by sources close to DC Studios cited by Variety.

According to them, Wonder Woman 3 was not in development and nothing had been promised to Gal Gadot regarding her return to the new DC Universe.

The actress nevertheless explains that she was not particularly surprised when she finally learned that she would not be wearing the costume again. She had especially observed the way in which other figures from the previous DC universe had been treated.

“I saw how everyone was treated. It wasn’t very elegant. The situation with Henry (Cavill) wasn’t handled elegantly, to say the least. Same with Patty (Jenkins), the director. It wasn’t handled elegantly.”

However, Gal Gadot does not seem to harbor any particular resentment towards Gunn and Safran: “We are all adults and everything is fine. It’s not even about James Gunn and Peter Safran. They are here and they are doing what they think is right. Everything is fine today…”

After playing Diana Prince in Wonder Woman (2017), Wonder Woman 1984 (2020) and Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021), Gal Gadot is now part of the DC Universe’s past. The new chapter launched by James Gunn and Peter Safran must start with a new incarnation of the heroine. We don’t yet know who.
