The next James Bond has already been chosen, says Gary Oldman

The Slow Horses actor says casting is complete. And obviously, he’s crossing his fingers that it’s his partner Jack Lowden.

It’s an indiscretion that causes a lot of noise.

Gary Oldman says the next James Bond has already been chosen. According to the Oscar-winning actor, Amazon MGM and Denis Villeneuve have made their choice to play Daniel Craig’s successor, but have not yet officially announced his identity. And obviously, the boss of Slough House hope it’s his partner in Slow Horsesactor Jack Lowden.

“It’s been rumored that Jack (Lowden) is on the shortlist of contenders… We’ll find out soon, right? Because they chose the future James Bond! They’ve made their choice, but they haven’t announced it yet… So I’m crossing my fingers for Jack…“

A revelation which took place this weekend during an interview given to the Canadian show The Morning Show. A surprising statement to say the least, as the casting of the next 007 officially remains one of Hollywood’s best-kept secrets. For several years, rumors have been multiplying around who should succeed Daniel Craig, but the prospect of filming planned for next year has considerably accelerated speculation.

Several names have circulated in recent months. Callum Turner, Jacob Elordi, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Harris Dickinson and therefore Jack Lowden would have been among the contenders still in the running. Louis Partridge is also said to have attracted interest from Amazon MGM, while stage actor Tom Francis is said to have auditioned.

If Gary Oldman’s words are true, the wait could therefore be coming to an end. The studio has already found its new 007, several months before the start of production.

This new James Bond will be directed by Denis Villeneuve. The screenplay is by Steven Knight, the creator of Peaky Blinders.

It now remains to be seen whether Gary Oldman has really just spilled the beans… and whether Jack Lowden is indeed the one who is about to don the James Bond costume.
