We know who will play the villain in the new Miami Vice, opposite Austin Butler and Michael B. Jordan

John Leguizamo joins Joseph Kosinski’s new film and will face Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs.

The new Miami Vice begins to reveal his cards.

John Leguizamo has officially joined the cast of the film directed by Joseph Kosinski, and this time he will play… the bad guy.

The information, revealed by The Hollywood Reporterconfirms that the actor will give a hard time to the two heroes played this time by Austin Butler and Michael B. Jordan.

After playing Eumaeus, Odysseus’ faithful and blind friend in The Odyssey by Christopher Nolan, Leguizamo therefore continues its collaboration with Universal. The actor will also soon appear in the new version of The Exorcist by Mike Flanagan expected in 2027.

In Miami Vice ’85we will see Michael B. Jordan in the skin of Ricardo Tubbs while Austin Butler will be James “Sonny” Crockett. They will opposite Camila Morrone, but also Danny Ramirez, and Alden Ehrenreich, as well as Whitney Peak.

As its title suggests, the film will take place in the mid-1980s, at a time when Miami was undergoing a transformation. Joseph Kosinski will focus in particular on the glamor of the city, but also on the corruption and organized crime which plague Florida. The plot will follow Crockett and Tubbs, two detectives from the Miami-Dade homicide squad, forced to go undercover into the criminal underworld in order to dismantle several networks operating in South Florida. According to The Hollywood Reporterthe scenario is directly inspired by the pilot of the original series created by Anthony Yerkovich.

Broadcast from 1984, the series released in France under the title Two Cops in Miami had popularized the duo formed by Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas, two police officers working undercover in the criminal circles of Miami. This new version therefore intends to return to the origins of the series while offering a new interpretation of Crockett and Tubbs.

Miami Vice ’85 will be released in cinemas in France on May 17, 2028.
