Blade Runner 2099: Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer hunted in the trailer

Fifty years after Blade Runner 2049, the science fiction saga returns with an eight-episode series.

“A new world. A new order. A new Blade Runner.”

Prime Video unveiled at New York Comic Con the trailer for Blade Runner 2099, a new version of the universe imagined by Philip K. Dick and brought to the screen by Ridley Scott in 1982.

The story takes place fifty years after the events of Blade Runner 2049, in a resurgent Los Angeles. Hunter Schafer (Euphoria) plays Cora, a fugitive forced to adopt one final identity by becoming a Blade Runner. To carry out a mission that could turn the city upside down, she must team up with Olwen, a Replicant near death, played by Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once). Together, they track down a fugitive who holds a secret capable of collapsing the established order.

This new series extends the universe of Blade Runner, adapted from the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, published by Philip K. Dick in 1968.

The first film, directed by Ridley Scott and starring Harrison Ford, was released in 1982. Thirty-five years later, Denis Villeneuve took up the torch with Blade Runner 2049, in which Ford reunited with his character Rick Deckard.

At the helm of this new story, Silka Luisa (Shining Girls) serves as creator, showrunner and executive producer. Ridley Scott also serves as executive producer.

Around Yeoh and Schafer, the cast brings together Dimitri Abold and Lewis Gribben, as well as Katelyn Rose Downey, Daniel Rigby, Johnny Harris, Amy Lennox, Sheila Atim, Matthew Needham, Tom Burke and Maurizio Lombardi.

The Blade Runner 2099 series will have eight episodes and will be available from November 25 on Prime Video.
