The new X-Files officially ordered for Disney+
Ryan Coogler (Sinners) resurrects the cult series from the 1990s with two new FBI agents.
The truth is there.
The new X-Files has been ordered as a series by Hulu, Disney’s American platform. At the helm of this retelling of the cult series is Ryan Coogler, the Oscar-winning director of Sinners, who wrote, directed and produced the pilot.
No question of reprising the roles of Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. This new version will follow two FBI agents with radically different profiles, but both particularly brilliant. Danielle Deadwyler (Till) and Himesh Patel (Yesterday) will play these new characters, who will form an unexpected alliance when they are assigned to a long-closed division, specializing in cases linked to unexplained phenomena.
Ryan Coogler will executive produce the series alongside Jennifer Yale, who will serve as showrunner.
The filmmaker has never hidden his attachment to Chris Carter’s creation, broadcast from 1993 and which has become a reference in television science fiction.
“I’ve loved the more rewarding from this experience.”
The project was announced in 2023, but we will therefore have to wait before seeing it take this decisive step. With Ryan Coogler at the helm, this new X-Files intends to reconnect with the mysteries and paranormal phenomena that made the series successful, while opening a new page in its history.
The broadcast date has not yet been announced. In the United States, the series will be offered on Hulu and, in France, it should arrive on Disney+.
