Ducobu stronger than Les Misérables and Guillaume Canet at the French box office

Ducobu stronger than Les Misérables and Guillaume Canet at the French box office

Les Miserables loses the top spot in favor of Élie Semoun’s dunce, fired up by the All Saints’ Day holidays. For his part, Guillaume Canet got off to an encouraging start with Karma.

He fell to the ground…

Les Miserables is no longer number 1 at the French box office. Fred Cavayé’s adaptation adds 430,000 admissions in the second week, in 663 cinemas, with attendance up slightly thanks to the holidays. The historic film with Vincent Lindon and Tahar Rahim is slowly but surely approaching a million spectators (currently 909,000 spectators).

Less strong than The Three Musketeers Or Monte Cristo

A good score, but far from the adaptations of classics that have hit the box office in recent years. The Three Musketeers: D’Artagnan already had 1.7 million entries at this stage, in April 2023, while The Three Musketeers: Milady totaled 1.2 million in December of the same year. As for the Count of Monte Cristoin the summer of 2024, it moved into another dimension, with nearly 2.5 million spectators after two weeks.

+ 150% for Ducobu !

Les Miserables therefore resists, but must cede control of the national box office to a dunce in yellow and black who is surfing the school break. Ducobu and the ghost of Saint-Potacheby Élie Semoun, takes first place thanks to a distribution that has almost doubled. More than 1,000 theaters screened the film during the All Saints’ Day holidays, so much so that attendance increased by 153% in the third week! The comedy attracts 460,000 additional spectators and is only a few tickets away from the million mark. This fifth part is already as good as Ducobu goes green!released in April 2024 and which ended its career with around a million admissions, as well as Ducobu president!which attracted 910,000 spectators in July 2022.

Guillaume Canet has a good Karma

The new film by Guillaume Canet completes the podium. Her Karma delights more than 360,000 spectators in 506 theaters in France, including previews, after one week.

The dramatic thriller does significantly better than Himthe filmmaker’s previous film – if we put aside the franchisee Asterix in Middle Earth. Released in October 2021, it recorded around 120,000 admissions during its first week in 385 theaters, before ending its career under 200,000 spectators.

Heart of the Beast passes 1.5 million entries

Back-to-school success, the adventure film Heart of the Beast by David Ayer falls to ninth place for his fifth week. Brad Pitt and his dog nevertheless reach the milestone of one and a half million entries in France.

172,000 entries for Clayface

Small start for the new DC opus. Clayface brings together only 172,000 curious people in Gotham for its first week (without AVP). An honest result for this film body horror without a star in the casting, which remains far from the launch of Supergirl this summer, which took off with 250,000 admissions before ending its career under 500,000 spectators.

The Island of Memories enjoy the holidays

The new American animated film from DreamWorks, The Island of Memoriesenjoy the holidays. The fantastic adventures of the two best friends attracted 240,000 spectators for their first week in French cinemas (AVP included). This is more than Dreamworks’ previous independent film, Dog Manin 2025, which started at 180,000 and ended its career with a modest total of 315,000 admissions in France. But it’s less than The Wild Robotwhich was a hit at All Saints’ Day 2024, already showing 400,000 spectators in the first week to finish at almost 2 million.

200,000 entries for Shaun the Sheep

Another animated film in theaters in recent days: the creators of Wallace and Gromit are still popular. Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Halloweenby Steve Cox and Matthew Walker, brings together 200,000 fans in 546 theaters (including AVP) for its first week. A much better launch than that of Shaun the Sheep and Timmy’s Keeping Up with Christmasreleased in November 2023, excluding school holidays.

Éric Judor in check with The King of the game

Éric Judor fails to enter the top 10 with The King of the gamewhich totaled 95,000 admissions, including previews, in nearly 300 theaters. Poorly received by the press, this crazy comedy starts in the same waters as Problemsreleased in 2017, which recorded 96,000 admissions during its first week before ending its career around 200,000 spectators.

La Gradiva best average of the week

Finally, in a much smaller park of 115 rooms, one of Cannes’ favorites of the year, La Gradivahas accumulated more than 90,000 entries, including previews, achieving the best average of the week!
