Three years later A winter in summerFrench director Laetitia Masson returns with an autobiographical drama and reunites with her favorite actress, Elodie Bouchez. The actress awarded the César for best actress for The dream life of angels was already showing in his previous feature films: GHB, Buckshot and therefore A winter in summer.
“I lived my life with my son without ever thinking that it could become a subject for a film. It was only when he found his place in the world that I said to myself that it was almost my duty to tell his story..” The feature film is directly inspired by the story of Laetitia Masson and her little boy, Alphonse, suffering from a genetic syndrome. He is the one who plays Ulysses.
The film will be presented in the section Un Certain Regard at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival.
In the cast, we will also find Stanislas Merhar in the role of the father and Alphonse Roberts who plays Ulysses. But also Romane Bohringer or Gringe (Blocked, How far is it, Serge the Myth…).
The actress had already proven herself in a maternal role with the film Jeanne Herry, Pupilwhere she played a woman unable to have a child, who begins the painful journey of adoption. A role which earned her a nomination for the César for best actress.
Synopsis: “Alice, a sociology researcher, discovers that she is pregnant. Luc, her husband, is exultant. It will be a boy! They will call him Ulysses. Except that at one year old, Ulysses does not fit into the curves. Too small, too thin. The pediatricians wonder and the verdict falls: genetic syndrome. Ulysses will not be like the others. But what will he be like? Mystery. Then begins the very special odyssey of Ulysses: walk, speak, learn, understand, flourish Alice sets out on the adventure, determined that Ulysses finds his place in the world.
